Diane Zimmerman Umble

Diane Zimmerman Umble is Professor of Communication in the Department of Communication and Theatre and the Acting Director of the Center of Academic Excellence at Millersville University. She received her Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. She wrote Holding the Line: The Telephone in Old Order Mennonite and Amish Life (1996), and co-edited Strangers at Home: Amish and Mennonite Women in History (2002) and The Amish and the Media (forthcoming in 2008), all published by Johns Hopkins University Press. She is a native of Lancaster County where she lives with her husband, Ron, and is the mother of two children.
