Note: The settlement and district statistics were updated in July 2007. The population numbers (which include adults and children) are an estimate calculated by using an average of 135 people per church district. The number of people per district varies by region, community, affiliation, and age of the district. The actual number of people in a specific district maybe higher or lower than the average. In general, 135 is a conservative average that was used for each state and Ontario. These estimates include all Amish groups (Old Order and New Order) that use horse-and-buggy transportation, but exclude car-driving groups such as Beachy Amish and Amish Mennonites.
