MISSION STATEMENT

VISION: We seek to be the premier undergraduate business program in the mid-Atlantic region among comprehensive colleges with a strong liberal-arts curriculum.

MISSION: To provide undergraduate students with a solid foundation in modern business disciplines within a liberal-arts context. We create a challenging academic environment in which students acquire knowledge, learn to apply business principles, and equip themselves with the ethical decision-making skills necessary for success in graduate and professional education, as well as leadership positions in the global business community, government and nonprofit organizations. This environment also promotes lifelong development of analytical, communication and leadership skills.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide a strong foundation in the theoretical, functional and ethical areas of global business, reflecting the current state of knowledge in the field.
  2. To challenge students to develop competence in critical thinking, problem-solving, oral and written communication, cross-cultural understanding, teamwork and leadership.
  3. To provide diverse opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning, both domestically and internationally.
  4. To prepare students for challenging graduate and professional programs.
  5. To prepare students for a wide range of careers in the world of business.
