Dear Business Alumnus or Alumna,
The Department of Business of Elizabethtown College cordially invites you to the annual Business Alumni Reunion (BAR) on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The reunion will take place on campus, in the Susquehanna Room of Myer Hall, from 5:00 to 6:45 PM.
The BAR is an exciting event which brings together business alumni to network and celebrate their common heritage at Elizabethtown College. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to reconnect with old friends with whom you often shared laughs, dorm rooms, course notes and sleepless nights studying for exams. Perhaps you will also create new and lasting relationships with other business alumni from different paths of life. You can also chat with your favorite profs listed below. In addition, a video of Department of Business activities and past BAR events will be shown during this period.
Following the eating, socializing and networking, Nobel Laureate Dr. Joseph Stiglitz will give the keynote address, “Ethics and the Global Economic Crisis” in the Leffler Chapel and Performance Center at 7:00 pm. This lecture combines two of Elizabethtown’s most celebrated lecture series, The Rev. Dr. Frank S. Carper Lecture on Ethics, Business and Society and the John F. Chubb Lecture on Business, Public Policy and World Affairs, which separately honor the legacies of the Rev. Dr. Frank S. Carper ’13 and John F. Chubb ’61.

Joseph Stiglitz won the Nobel Prize in economics in 2007. Currently a professor at Columbia University, Stiglitz has served on the Council of Economic Advisers for President Bill Clinton. In 1997-2000, he served as the Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank, and in 2008, he was appointed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy to chair a Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Economic Progress. Stiglitz has written several books, including notably, Globalization and Its Discontents, which has been translated into 35 languages. For more information, go to www.josephstiglitz.com.
Admission to the Joseph Stiglitz lecture is free, but tickets are required. Tickets will be provided at the reunion event.
