The UN Seminar takes students to the United Nations in Geneva on
a study tour aimed at learning more about the multilateral
organization and its role in promoting development. The group attends
briefings by UN officials on contemporary economic, political and social
issues facing the world.
The intensive 10-day experience in the summer will provide students
a close look at the workings of the United Nations and its different departments and agencies. By attending briefing sessions at the UN, Permanent Missions and various NGOs, students will learn
about sundry global issues, and the approaches adopted
by particular countries and the UN in dealing with them.
A highlight of the program is its collaborative nature: Students from
Elizabethtown join college students from Wisconsin and Germany during their time in Geneva.
Course credit: You may take the course (EC372/3 United Nations Seminar) for either 2 or 3 credits. As a 3-credit course, EC373 will count as an economics elective--it will satisfy one of the elective requirements for an economics major, economics minor or a business administration minor.
