What is Scouting University?
Scouting University is a day of learning and fun for both Boy and Girl Scouts from various regions to earn two merit badges in one day and visit a college campus. The badges are taught by students, faculty, and school affiliates, in a morning and afternoon session (For a listing of available badges, click here). Scouting University sessions cover a wide variety of badge topics, from first aid and self defense to computers , crafts, science, business, and ethics topics. It is an excellent chance for scouts to earn up to two badges in one day and meet fellow scouts from surrounding areas.
How many Scouts participate in Scouting University?
Last year, about 580 Boy and Girl scouts attended Scouting University. In the 8 year history of Scouting University, we have had over 2,200 scouts attend the event, many returning every year. We are looking forward to a successful 8th year of this annual event with another 600 boy and girl scouts.
When is Scouting University?
Scouting University 2011 is being held on Saturday, January 29th, 2011. Check-in will start around 7:15am, and the closing ceremonies will end around 6 PM. You will receive a detailed schedule once you are registered for the event.
What badges are offered during Scouting University?
A complete list of available badges will be posted on the Scouting University Website before the event. Badges are assigned in a first come - first served order through the SU Online Registration system. When signing-up for badges, be sure to follow instructions carefully to ensure that you sign-up for the proper badge.
Who runs Scouting University?
The Elizabethtown College Students in Free Enterprise (EC SIFE) team coordinates Scouting University. Badges are taught by Elizabethtown College Students, Faculty and Staff, local scout leaders, and other community volunteers. How much does it cost to attend Scouting University?
Scouting University fees cover the costs of the event, including lunch and a "Scouting University" patch. The following prices are from Scouting University and are subject to change.
- Scout Full-Day Session: 2 Badges(w/ Lunch & Patch): $35.00
- Scout Half-Day Session: 1 Badge (w/ Lunch & Patch) $20.00
- Adult Leaders and Guests (Cost of Lunch): $13.00
Scouting University will be held rain or shine.
Where is Scouting University located?
Scouting University is held on Elizabethtown College's scenic campus located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Elizabethtown is located approximately half-way between Harrisburg and Lancaster.

We are only 15 minutes from the Harrisburg East exit of the PA turnpike, and 25 minutes from the Reading exit.
