PAUKOVITS, SHEPPARD LEAD ELIZABETHTOWN OVER MARYWOOD, 7-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Keith Paukovits (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) tossed six shutout innings and Kiah Sheppard (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead Elizabethtown to a 7-1 win over Marywood in non-league action on Tuesday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 10-3.

Joe Adams (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) rapped out a pair of doubles while Buddy Touchinsky (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) added two hits and two RBI in the winning effort.  Jeff Williams and Mike Rickert each had a pair of hits for Marywood (0-8).

Etown scored the only runs it would need in the second inning.  Chris Romig (Beavertown, Pa./West Snyder) and Sheppard sandwiched singles around a flyout and Jared Ness (McPherson, Ks./McPherson) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Touchinsky lashed a base hit up the middle to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 edge and Brad Karli's groundout scored Ness to make it 3-0 in favor of Etown.

The Blue Jays doubled their advantage to 6-0 in the third inning on an RBI double from Adams and a two-run, two-bagger by Sheppard.  Marywood's Joe Troy took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits over three innings.

Paukovits made the lead stand up, striking out four while allowing only one walk and three singles over six innings to pick up his first win of the season.  Ryan Bowe (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) tossed the final two innings for the Blue Jays.

Etown, currently ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic region, returns to action on Thursday, March 25 at home against Franklin & Marshall College.  Game time is 3:30 p.m.
