ETOWN TALLIES 12 HITS, FIVE ERRORS IN 6-2 LOSS AT URSINUS; BEARS SNAP BLUE JAYS' THREE-GAME WIN STREAKCOLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- Dave Hunt scattered nine hits over seven innings and Jeff Ritschel went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead Ursinus past Elizabethtown, 6-2, in non-league action on Wednesday. With the loss, the Blue Jays fell to 16-5.Joe Adams and Chris Romig each collected three hits for Etown, which outhit the Bears 12-7 on the day. Chris Turtell went 2-for-4 for the Blue Jays while Scott Weigle ripped a double for the game's lone extra-base hit. Bryan Pittinger allowed six runs on six hits and four walks while fanning three over six-plus innings to take the loss. Ursinus scored twice in the first and third innings to take a 4-0 lead. Romig knocked in Weigle with an RBI single to put the Blue Jays on the board in the third and Tim Downing plated Kiah Sheppard on a fielder's choice in the fourth to pull Etown within 4-2. Ritschel gave the Bears a pair of key insurance runs with a two-run single in the seventh inning. Dave Pierce went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for Ursinus (14-7). Keith Paukovits (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle)
worked two scoreless innings in relief for Etown. The Blue Jays,
currently ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region, return to action on
Saturday, April 10 with a crucial MAC Commonwealth League doubleheader
at Juniata College. Game time is 1 p.m.
