ETOWN GETS BACK ON TRACK WITH RESOUNDING DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF ALBRIGHT; JAYS POUND OUT 23 HITS IN OPENERELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Chris Romig (Beavertown, Pa./West Snyder) went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI to lead Elizabethtown to a 17-1, game-one win and a doubleheader sweep of Albright in MAC Commonwealth League action on Saturday. The Blue Jays captured game two, 6-1, behind a four-hit complete game performance from Derik Aasan. With the wins, Etown improved to 18-7 and 7-1 in the league.Kiah Sheppard also powered the Blue Jay attack, going 6-for-7 on the afternoon with four RBI, two doubles and four runs scored, while teammate Jared Ness pounded out four hits. Scott Weigle went four innings to pick up the win in game one and improve to a team-best 6-0 on the season. Bob Maro went 4-for-7 to lead the Albright offense while Pete Penna added two hits and an RBI. The Lions fell to 6-17 overall and 2-8 in the league. In game one, the Blue Jays batted around in the first inning and broke out to a 10-0 advantage by the end of the second frame. Romig's two-run home run highlighted a five-run fifth inning that built the Etown lead to 16-1. In the nightcap, Sheppard gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run single that plated Romig and Chris Turtell. Albright answered with a run in the third -- only the fourth earned run allowed by Aasan all season -- but Etown answered in the fourth when Sheppard smacked a leadoff double and scored two batters later on an RBI single by Ness. The Blue Jays picked up three insurance runs in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead. Aasan fanned seven against three walks while allowing only four hits to improve to 4-1 on the season. Etown returns to action on Tuesday, April
20 at Allentown College. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
