ETOWN KNOCKS OFF NATIONALLY-RANKED URSINUS, 5-4

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown hosted Ursinus Wednesday and defeated the 29th-ranked Bears 5-4. Derik Aason (Cary, NC/Smithtown) picked up his second win of the season as Etown improved to 7-3 overall, and Bryan Pittinger (Westminster, MD/South Carroll) got his third save. Matt Wiatrak pitched a complete game and got the loss for the Bears, allowing only three earned runs in eight innings.

Elizabethtown jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first four innings, but Ursinus (7-3) came back to score four runs in the eighth. Pittinger came in to get the final out of the eighth inning and halt the Bears' rally, and he closed out the ninth, allowing only one batter to reach base.

Tyler Comp (Enola, PA/East) drove in both of the Blue Jays' runs in the fourth inning, and Shawn Price (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) went two for four at the plate for Etown. The Blue Jays' Tim Downing (St. James, NY/Smithtown) led off the fourth with a double, the only extra base hit of the entire game.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home Saturday in a MAC Commonwealth opening doubleheader against Susquehanna. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
