ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE BASEBALL Etown Picks Up First Win of Season in Ft. Pierce, FL, 4-0 over Davis & Elkins Sunday; Etown Falls to Concordia, 5-0, Monday; Ryan Bowe Hurls Two-Hit Shutout FT. PIERCE, FL --- Elizabethtown picked up its first win of the 2002 season, defeating Davis & Elkins, 4-0, in its first game at Ft. Pierce, FL, Sunday. On Monday, the Blue Jays fell to Concordia, 5-0. Etown is now 1-3 overall, and all of its games thus far have been played against NCAA Division II teams. Ryan Bowe (Quarryville, PA/Solanco) pitched a gem against Davis & Elkins, going the game's full seven innings and allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out one. It was the first complete game shutout by an Elizabethtown pitcher since 1999. Freshman first baseman Steve Luongo (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) went two-for-two with one run and one RBI against Davis & Elkins. There were no extra base hits in the game, and Elizabethtown totaled seven hits. Luongo went one for three with one double. Fellow freshman Justin Brandt (Vienna, VA/Bishop O'Connell) batted one for two with one double, and Brad Duppstadt (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) hit one for three and had one stolen base. All of Concordia's five runs came in the third inning, and none of them were earned. Etown's only error of the game came with two outs in the third inning. |
