Elizabethtown Opens 2003 Season with 7-6 Loss to Northwood in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

FT. PIERCE, Fla. --- Elizabethtown opened its 2003 season in Ft. Pierce Fla. with a 7-6 loss to Northwood (MI). 2002 Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year Drew Kelley (York, PA/Dallastown) started the game on the mound for the Blue Jays and pitched five innings, allowing four hits, two runs and just one earned run while striking out four. Jon Weitz (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) was charged with the loss in relief.

Brad Duppstadt (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) went two-for-four at the plate with one RBI and a stolen base. Mark Dixon (Havertown, PA/Delaware County Christian) batted two-for-four and scored a run, and Steve Luongo (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) hit one-for-three with a double, one run and one RBI. Seth Guida (Reading, PA/Exeter) smacked a triple for Etown while going one-for-two at the plate with one run and one RBI.

Etown will return to action in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Tuesday, March 4 against Eastern in an 11:45 p.m. doubleheader.
