ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE BASEBALL Lebanon Valley Halts Elizabethtown's Eight-Game Winning Streak, Blue Jays Fall 6-2 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Lebanon Valley put a stop to Elizabethtown's eight-game winning streak as the Blue Jays fell 6-2 in the nine inning Commonwealth Conference game at Etown's Ira R. Herr field Monday. Etown drops to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference with the loss, while Lebanon Valley improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Mark Schauren (Columbia, PA/Columbia) blasted a two RBI double in the top of the third inning, and he was immediately followed with an RBI single by Tim Rink (Warminster, PA/Council Rock) to give Lebanon Valley a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Etown scored a run of its own in the bottom of the third inning as Brad Duppstadt (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), who went two-for-four for the day, singled and eventually reached home via a wild pitch by Lebanon Valley starting pitcher Dennis Reilly, who went six innings, allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out three en route to the win. Lebanon Valley added three more runs in the top of the eighth on a three-RBI triple by Ronald Weaver (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster). Etown scored its final run in the bottom of the ninth as Mark Dixon (Havertown, PA/Delaware County Christian), who went two-for-five, singled home Jon Kalejta (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown), who also batted two-for-five for the day. Elizabethtown will return to action Tuesday, March 25 on the road against Albright at 3:00 p.m. It will be the Blue Jays' fourth conference game in three days. |
