HERSHEY, Pa. --- For the first time in program history, the Elizabethtown College golf team won a conference team championship as the Blue Jays captured the Commonwealth Conference title at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Sunday.

The Blue Jays, who finished last at the Commonwealth Conference championship last season, shot 317 on Sunday after carding 316 on Saturday. Their two-day total of 633 was 18 strokes better than runner-up Albright College (651).

With their win, the Blue Jays earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Golf Championships at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia, to be held May 13-16.

Individually, the Blue Jays placed four golfers among the top six finishers. Junior Mike Wagner (Allentown, PA/William Allen) took second with a two-day total of 156, while senior Hunter Gross (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) was third with an identical score of 156.

First-year student Geoff Quinque (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) earned Rookie of the Year honors after finishing fourth with a total of 159, and sophomore Kurt Amen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) placed sixth with a score of 162.

First-year student Dan Senkler (Orlando, FL/Sanford School) tied for 19th overall in the field of 30 players with a two-day total of 177.

Albright's Mike Heller was the individual champion with a two-day score of 153 off rounds of 74 and 79, defeating Wagner and Gross by three strokes. Heller was named Player of the Year while Blue Jay head coach Keith Marks was honored by his peers as Coach of the Year.
