HELLER, MAYETTE LEAD ETOWN PAST BRIDGEWATER, 6-2; JAYS ONE WIN FROM 400 ALL-TIME

Elizabethtown, Pa. --- Denise Heller and Melissa Mayette each scored a pair of goals to lead Elizabethtown to a 6-2 win over Bridgewater College on Sunday.

With the win, the Blue Jays broke a two-game losing streak and improved to 2-3 on the season.  Etown needs one more win to reach 400 victories in program history.

Kristy Nowell put the Blue Jays on the board, scoring with 21:35 remaining in the first half.  Heller then blasted home a shot off a penalty corner to put the hosts up 2-0.

Holly Ware scored on a penalty stroke with 3:39 left before halftime to cut the Bridgewater deficit to 2-1, but Etown erupted for four unanswered goals in the second half en route to the win.  Ware closed out the scoring with her second goal of the game for the Eagles (1-3).

The two goals by Mayette were the first of her collegiate career.  Liz White also helped the Etown effort with a goal and an assist.

Kate VanValkenburgh made eight saves in the Etown cage to record the first victory of her collegiate career.  It was the first time the Blue Jays had scored six goals in a game since a 6-1 win over Albright on October 9, 1996.

Etown returns to action on Thursday, September 17 at home against the University of Scranton.  Game time is 4 p.m.
