SCRANTON STAYS UNBEATEN WITH 3-1 WIN AT ETOWNELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Tina Ballerini and Shannon Malloy scored goals in a 1:17 stretch of the first half to lead Scranton to a 3-1 win over Elizabethtown in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Thursday. With the loss, the Blue Jays fell to 2-4 on the season.Mandi Ewing scored with 16:18 remaining in the first half to give Etown a 1-0 lead. The goal was Ewing's third of the season. The Royals (5-0) knotted the score at one when Ballerini found the cage off an assist from Erica Bergan with 7:14 left before halftime. Moments later, Malloy took a pass from Kara Kobach and tallied the gamewinner. Erica Klein added insurance for the Royals with a goal in the second half. Jody Patterson stopped ten shots to earn the win. Kate VanValkenburgh made 14 stops in the goal for the Blue Jays. Ewing led Etown with six shots for the game while teammate Denise Heller was next with five. The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, September 19 at home against Messiah College. Game time is 11 a.m.
