PURCELL AND MEUSEL LEAD ETOWN IN 5-0 BLANKING OF ALBRIGHT

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Beth Purcell and Tiffany Meusel each scored a pair of goals to lead Elizabethtown past Albright, 5-0, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 6-6 on the season and 1-3 in the league.

Emily Pitzer also scored for Etown, which won for the fourth time in its last five games.  Mandi Ewing picked up a pair of assists in the winning effort.

Etown outshot the Lions, 20-0, on the game and also held a 17-1 advantage in penalty corners.  Lindsay Vitale made 15 saves in the cage for Albright (2-9, 1-4).

It was the second consecutive two-goal game for Meusel, who also found the cage twice in a 5-1 win at Goucher on Saturday.  Conference leading scorer Denise Heller added to her total with one assists for Etown.  She now has ten goals and 24 points in 1998.

The Blue Jays return to action on Thursday, October 8 at home against Western Maryland College.  Game time is 4 p.m.  Etown is seeking to go above the .500 mark for the first time since the end of the 1996 season.
