EWING'S BIG DAY GIVES ETOWN 7-1 WIN OVER WIDENER; JAYS OVER .500 MARK FOR FIRST TIME SINCE '96ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Mandi Ewing scored a hat trick and added two assists to lead Elizabethtown past Widener, 7-1, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday. With the win the Blue Jays improved to 9-8 overall and 3-4 in the league.Melissa Mayette increased her team-best, point-scoring streak to four games with two goals and an assist in the winning effort. Leading scorer Denise Heller pitched in with a goal and an assist as Etown went over the .500 mark for the first time since the end of the 1996 season. Emily Pitzer also scored for the Blue Jays while teammate Kate VanValkenburgh needed only one save to pick up her eighth win of the season. Eileen McMenamin scored a first-half goal off an assist from Shannon Lowry for Widener (6-11, 1-6), which saw its winning streak snapped at three games. Etown returns to action on Thursday, October
22 at home against Dickinson College. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
