ETOWN WINS SECOND IN A ROW, 1-0, OVER F & M
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) made eleven stops for the Blue Jays en route to collecting her third shutout of the season as Elizabethtown squeaked past Franklin and Marshall, 1-0, at home Thursday.
The Blue Jays' only goal came with 17:58 remaining in the second period, when freshman Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) netted an unassisted goal. It was the first goal of her collegiate career.
Etown (4-3) survived a barrage of shots from F & M (1-7) in the final three minutes of the game to hold on to the victory. F & M outshot the Blue Jays 19-8 in the game.
The Blue Jays return to action Saturday, September 25 at the University of Scranton. Game time is noon.
