ETOWN DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO WIDENER

CHESTER, Pa. --- Despite being outshot 18-6, the Blue Jays managed to stay close and ultimately lost a 2-1 cliffhanger at Widener Thursday.  Goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) made 13 saves for the Blue Jays.

Widener scored the first goal of the game and held Etown to only one shot the entire first period.  That one shot however, resulted in freshman Stacy Peters' (Millville, PA/Central Columbia) first goal of her collegiate career, tying the game at 1-1 with less than two minutes left to play in the first half

The Blue Jays managed to get more shots in the second period, but none found the goal.  A Widener goal with 12:01 remaining cemented Etown's loss.

Etown (4-5, 0-3) returns to action against Goucher at home Saturday, October 2, as part of Elizabethtown College's Homecoming festivities.  Game time is 11:00 a.m.
