SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown lost 2-1 in overtime in its Commonwealth Conference opener at Susquehanna Saturday. With the loss, Etown falls to 1-1 overall on the season.
Following a Susquehanna goal with 11:54 remaining in the first half, the Blue Jays' only goal came with 22:08 remaining in the second half when Marthe Vehmeijer (Rotterdam, The Netherlands/Erasmiaans Gymnasium) scored off an assist from Pam Pike (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) to tie the score at one apiece.
Susquehanna won the game with a goal by Amy Eyster with 4:23 remaining in the first overtime period.
Elizabethtown returns to action at home Tuesday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m. against Messiah, the first game to be played on Etown's new Sofsport artificial turf field.
