ETOWN DOWNS FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL, 3-0

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown defeated cross-county rival Franklin and Marshall 3-0 Monday at F&M to improve to 4-1 overall. With the loss, F&M falls to 4-3.

Etown's Marthe Vehmeijer (Rotterdam, The Netherlands/Erasimaans Gymnasium) scored the first goal just 2:02 after the start of play. Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) hit Etown's second goal just over six minutes later.

Elizabethtown added one more goal in the second half when Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) scored on an assist from Mandi Ewing (McClure, PA/West Snyder).

Etown goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) made seven saves to preserve the shutout, her third of the season.

The Blue Jays return to action on the road against Western Maryland Wednesday, September 20. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
