ETOWN DEFEATS DICKINSON, 6-0, HEAD COACH YVONNE KAUFFMAN GETS 999th CAREER WIN, EWING GETS 5 ASSISTS

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- With a 6-0 Homecoming victory over Dickinson Saturday, Elizabethtown, ranked 18th in the nation, improves to 11-2 overall. The win also puts Etown head coach Yvonne Kauffman only one victory away from the 1,000th win of her collegiate coaching career.

Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) scored two goals in the game and Mandi Ewing (McClure, PA/West Snyder) was involved in every Etown point with a goal and five assists for the Blue Jays, a program single-game assist record.

The game was scoreless for almost the entire first half, until Nace scored with only five seconds before halftime on an assist from Ewing.

Ewing fed another goal to Nace only 3:03 into the second half, and Ewing scored a goal of her own just three minutes later on an assist from Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor).

Marthe Vehmeijer (Rotterdam, The Netherlands/Erasimaans Gymnasium) scored with 23:31 remaining in the game on another assist from Ewing, and Barb Wirtz scored on an assist from Ewing just 28 seconds later.

The final goal was scored by Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) on Ewing's fifth assist of the day.

Dickinson goaltender Marisa Giorgio (Rehersburg, PA/Tulpehocken) made 18 saves, and Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) made seven saves for the Etown shutout.

Elizabethtown will go for win number 1,000 of Kauffman's career Tuesday, October 10 at home against York College, currently ranked 10th in the nation. Game time is 3:45.
