Western Maryland Defeats Etown, 2-1, on Opening Day

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown lost its season opener, 2-1, at home against Western Maryland Thursday. Western Maryland improves to 3-0 overall with the win.

Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior forward Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) with 21:32 left in the first half. Purcell's goal was assisted by Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown).

Western Maryland evened the score with 17:26 left in the first period when Kristin Barrack found the back of the net. Barrack struck again with 15:08 remaining in the second half to win the game for the Green Terror.

Etown returns to action Monday, September 10 on the road against Delaware Valley. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
