Etown Comes From Behind to Defeat Delaware Valley, 3-2

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- After being down 2-0 at halftime, Elizabethtown came from behind to defeat host Delaware Valley 3-2 and improve to 1-1 overall Monday.

Delaware Valley (1-2) took a 2-0 lead in the first half off goals from Denise Bailey and Sara Astbury.

Etown defender Jama Weigher (Enola, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored the first goal of her Blue Jay career 8:40 into the second half to narrow the gap to 2-1. Shortly afterward, the game was halted due to lightning and resumed 30 minutes later.

The storm did not dampen the Blue Jays' comeback efforts, as midfielder Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) struck at 10:26 into the half to tie the game. Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) scored the game winner at 23:49.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home against Franklin and Marshall at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 12.
