Etown Defeats Albright, 3-2, in Conference Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown won its Commonwealth Conference opener on the road against Albright Saturday, 3-2, to improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

The Blue Jays' scored their first goal with 26:25 left in the first half when Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) scored on an assist from Lauren Potosky (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York). Etown took a 2-0 lead into halftime after Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) scored on an assist from Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) with 20:05 remaining in the first half.

The Blue Jays' lead increased to 3-0 with 31:33 remaining in the game when Potosky added a goal of her own on an assist from Purcell. Albright (1-4, 0-1) scored both of its goals within the final nine minutes of the game.

Etown returns to action on the road Tuesday, September 18 against conference rival Messiah. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
