Elizabethtown College Field Hockey Etown Falls in Closing Minutes, 3-2, to Messiah GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 3-2 cliffhanger loss to Messiah Tuesday. Messiah took a 1-0 lead into halftime following a goal by Allison Harris with 17:29 left in the period. Less than one minute into the second half, Lauren Potosky tied up the game at 1-1. With 10:46 remaining in the game, Etown first-year Kelli Miller scored the first goal of her collegiate career to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead. Messiah struck back just over two minutes later when Brooke Good scored at 8:28 left, tying the game at two goals apiece. Danae Chambers scored the game-winning goal for Messiah with just 1:54 remaining in regulatioin time. Messiah outshot Etown 29-17, and Etown goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh made 22 saves. Elizabethtown returns to action on the road against Bridgewater (Va.) Friday, September 21. Game time is 4:00 p.m. At Grantham, Pa.
