Purcell Scores Lone Goal as Etown Defeats Widener, 1-0

CHESTER, Pa. --- Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) scored the game's only goal as Etown downed Widener, 1-0, on the road Wednesday to improve to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the Commonwealth Conference.

Purcell's goal came with 13:28 remaining in the first half. Etown goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) made eight saves to preserve the Blue Jays' win.

Etown returns to action at home Saturday, September 6 against Villa Julie. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
