Mindy Nace Goal Leads Etown Past York, 1-0, in Double Overtime to Open Blue Jays' 2002 Season

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown abruptly won its 2002 season opener, 1-0, over York College at home Thursday as senior Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) streaked in front of the York goal following a pass from Laura Williams (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) and drove home the ball with 9:21 showing on the clock in the second overtime period.

Despite the close score, Etown actually out-shot York (0-2) 16-11. York, however, had five penalty corners versus none for the Blue Jays. Etown goaltender Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest), a sophomore making her first varsity collegiate start, made six saves in 90:39 of work to get the shutout victory.

The Blue Jays will return to action Saturday, September 7 at home against Delaware Valley for a 1:00 p.m. game.
