Etown Blanks Conference Rival Albright, 4-0, for Third Consecutive Shutout

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown got its third consecutive shutout to improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 4-0 home win over Albright Saturday. Albright drops to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss.

Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) made nine saves in the goal for Elizabethtown to blank the Lions. She has now gone 228 minutes since last allowing a goal back on September 24. Albright goaltender Kristen Ianieri (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) made 13 saves.

Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) got the Blue Jays on the scoreboard just 5:07 into the game with a goal off a pass from Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown). Gwilliam currently leads the Blue Jays with four assists. Lisa Zbyszinski (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season to put the Blue Jays up 2-0 with 15:03 remaining in the first half. She was assisted by Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata).

An unassisted goal by Jama Weigher (Enola, PA/Cumberland Valley) 5:05 before halftime gave Etown a 3-0 lead. From that point, the game settled into a stalemate until Kelly Miller (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored the game's final goal with just 4:28 left to play in the second half.

Elizabethtown will next face Dickinson in a non-conference game at home Wednesday, October 9 at 4:30 p.m., as the Blue Jays will try to get their fourth consecutive shutout, a feat the team has not accomplished since the end of the 1993 and beginning of the 1994 seasons.
