ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Brandy Espenshade Hat Trick Helps Etown Scuttle Dickinson, 4-1 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown, currently ranked 20th in the nation in NCAA Division III, improved to 8-2 overall in 2002 with a 4-1 win over Dickinson in a non-conference game at home Wednesday. Dickinson, which drops to 5-5 overall with the loss, dominated the first 15 minutes of the game and got out to 1-0 lead with 21:04 remaining in the first half. Andrea Carlow (McClean, VA/McClean) scored the goal off an assist from Caroline Gouin (Frederick, MD/Frederick). Elizabethtown began its comeback with the first of three goals by Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin), who tipped in a ball served up by Traci Brenner (Conowingo, MD/Perryville) with 4:08 left in the first half. Espenshade scored again with no time remaining on the clock at the tail end of the first half during a penalty corner, this time off an assist by Kelly Miller (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser). Etown went up 3-1 as Espenshade completed the hat trick at 17:13 remaining in the second half off an assist by Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata). Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) scored Etown's final goal and her first of the season with 5:58 remaining in the game. She was assisted by Jama Weigher (Enola, PA/Cumberland Valley). Etown goaltender Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) made nine saves as Etown out-shot Dickinson 29-11. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road against Ursinus, which just last year was a member of NCAA Division I in field hockey before switching to Division III this year, for an 11:00 a.m. game.
