Etown Falls to Messiah, 8-1, in Commonwealth Conference Semifinals

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- 2nd-ranked Messiah knocked 20th-ranked Elizabethtown out of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs with an 8-1 at Grantham Wednesday. Messiah (14-3), had lost to Elizabethtown (10-6) by a 1-0 score during the regular season.

Danae Chambers and Kelly Stanwell both had hat tricks for Messiah, and Chambers had five assists as well to figure into every one of Messiah's goals and total 11 points in the game.

Messiah held a 5-0 lead by halftime, and the Falcons had an 8-0 lead late in the second half, until Lauren Potosky (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) scored off an assist from Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) with 7:43 remaining to play to give the Blue Jays their only goal. Etown goaltender Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) made 24 saves, and defender Kim Fleager (Lititz, PA/Warwick) tallied one defensive save for Etown.
