ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Franklin & Marshall Defeats Elizabethtown, 5-2, Behind Four Brittany Croll Goals ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Franklin & Marshall, fresh off the heels of its upset win over Lebanon Valley Thursday, improved to 3-1 in 2003 with a 5-2 win over Elizabethtown Monday. The host Blue Jays dropped to 1-5 overall in 2003 with the loss to the local non-conference rival. F&M's offense was powered by a four-goal performance by sophomore forward Brittany Croll (Frankford, DE/Indian River). F&M got on the scoreboard first when Eileen Keever (Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) scored an unassisted goal 15:51 into the game. Etown knotted the score at 1-1 when first-year Julie Mitzelfelt (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) scored on an assist from Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) six minutes later. F&M went up 2-1 when Croll scored her first goal off a pass from Keever at 26:47. The Diplomats went ahead 3-1 when Croll scored again at 30:39 and took their 3-1 lead into halftime. The first 20 minutes of the second half were evenly matched, with neither team managing to score. An unassisted goal by Gwilliam at 59:24 put the Blue Jays back into the game by cutting F&M's lead to 3-2. Croll sealed the game for the Diplomats by scoring two goals in the final six minutes. Elizabethtown will return to action in its first Commonwealth Conference game Wednesday, September 17 on the road at Widener in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
