ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Etown Wins Second in a Row, 4-2, Over Delaware Valley, Kate Gwilliam Tallies Hat Trick DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown won its second consecutive game and improved to 3-9 overall Monday with a 4-2 non-conference road win over Delaware Valley. The game was a make-up of a previously rained out contest. The Blue Jays, which had scored 12 goals in their first ten games of the season, have now scored nine goals in their last two games. The Blue Jays' offense was powered by its midfield, with senior Kate Gwilliam (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) compiling a hat trick and Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week junior Kelly Miller (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) scoring the other goal. An unassisted Gwilliam goal at 4:15 gave Etown a 1-0 lead, but Delaware Valley knotted the score at 12:23 on a Natalie Stannard goal. The score remained tied 1-1 at halftime. Six and a half minutes into the second half, Gwilliam scored again, this time off an assist from senior forward Lauren Potosky (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York). A goal by Delaware Valley's Sara Astbury at 50:04 again tied the score at 2-2. Gwilliam scored the game-winner on an assist from Laura Williams (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) at 59:37, and Miller added an unassisted insurance goal at 63:54. Etown out-shot Delaware Valley 19-13, and the Blue Jays held a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners. Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) made six saves in the Etown net, and Missy Cannon made three saves for Delaware Valley.
