Blue Jays End Scoring Drought but Fall 2-1 to Catholic

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown snapped a 236-minute scoring drought but fell to Catholic University in the consolation round of the Muhlenberg Invitational Field Hockey Tournament Saturday. Etown drops to 1-4 overall with the 2-1 loss while Catholic improves to 3-2 overall.

Junior Mel Slessinger (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) scored unassisted for the Blue Jays with 13:09 remaining in the first half to give Etown a 1-0 lead, as well as its first goal since Etown's 3-1 season-opener win over Dickinson September 1. It was also Slessinger's first goal of the season.

Etown held on to its one-goal lead until late in the second half, when Catholic's Michele Repass scored with 12:31 left in the game. With 8:35 to go in the second half, Christy Engstrom scored the game-winner for Catholic.

Elizabethtown will return to action Tuesday, September 14 on the road at Franklin & Marshall in a 4:30 p.m. game.
