ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Etown Defeats Wilkes 3-2, Gets Third Win in Four Games, as Pechart Scores Twice WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown picked up its third win in its last four games with a 3-2 road victory over Wilkes University Friday to improve to 4-11 overall. Wilkes drops to 6-6 overall with the loss. Wilkes, which out-shot Etown 12-6 and held a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners, scored first 10:15 into the game on a goal by Lauren Risser. Etown's Jen Pechart (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) struck back with a goal off a Kelly Miller (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) assist at 21:59 to tie the score at 1-1 going into halftime. Wilkes took a 2-1 lead at 42:45 as Lara Judson scored on a penalty stroke. Just 44 seconds later, Pechart again knotted the score for Etown with her second goal of the game. With 2:35 remaining in regulation time, Melanie Slessinger (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) drove home the winning goal for Elizabethtown unassisted. Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) played the first half in the goal for Etown and made two saves. Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) took over in the net in the second half for the Blue Jays and made two more saves. Etown will return to action at home Wednesday, October 13 against Commonwealth Conference rival Lebanon Valley in a 4:00 p.m. game. Elizabethtown Coll.
