Etown Defeats McDaniel 4-3; Blue Jays Get First Win over Green Terror Since 2000 on 68 th Minute Goal

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 3-1 overall by getting its first win over McDaniel College since 2000 Saturday. The Blue Jays defeated McDaniel 4-3 at home to drop the Green Terror to 2-1 overall.

Etown got on the scoreboard first 23:35 into the game as Meg Policicchio (Topton, PA/ Brandywine Heights).

McDaniel took a 2-1 lead early in the second half as Carolanne Bianco (Havertown, PA/Haverford) scored at 40:38 and Kristin Mele (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) scored at 47:28.

Etown tied the game 2-2 as Mel Slessinger (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) scored off a Laura Rinck (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) assist at 56:51. Less than two minutes later, McDaniel took a 3-2 lead at 58:24 as Mel Thompson (Magnolia, DE/Ceasar Rodney) scored off a Dani Unflat (Bear, DE/William Penn) assist.

Etown scored twice in the game’s final eight minutes to clinch the win. Whitney Brown (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) scored the tying goal at 62:17 by dribbling in from the side of the net, and Slessinger scored the game-winner at 68:20 off a penalty corner.

Etown goalie Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made three saves, and Brandy Spriggle (Beaver Springs, PA/West Snyder) made one defensive save for Etown. Erika Wawzyanick (Wantage, NJ/ High Point) made four saves for McDaniel.
