Slessinger Goal Lifts Elizabethtown over Wilkes, 1-0

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 6-2 overall and Wilkes University dropped to 4-4 overall as Etown defeated Wilkes 1-0 at home Tuesday. The Blue Jays are now riding a three-game winning streak.

Mel Slessinger (Westminster, MD/North Carroll) scored the game’s lone goal unassisted at 29:00. It was her eighth goal of the season. Etown out-shot Wilkes 6-5, and the Blue Jays held a 5-4 advantage in penalty corners over the course of the game.

Etown goalie Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made three saves en route to her third shutout of the season.

The Blue Jays will return to action Saturday, September 24 against Albright College in a 1:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference home game.
