ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 2-0 in 2006 Saturday with a 3-0 win over host Muhlenberg College on the final day Muhlenberg’s Mule Classic. Etown held a 17-6 advantage in shots over the course of the game. In two games thus far this season, the Blue Jays have allowed only six shots and just two shots on goal.

Elizabethtown scored all three of its goals in the first half. Etown got its first goal at 18:18 into the game, after a shot by Blue Jays senior midfielder Laura Rinck (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove Area) was saved by Muhlenberg goaltender Lauren Schram. Schram was not able to control the ricochet, which bounced back to Etown sophomore forward Andrea Miles (Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Prep.). Miles then netted the ball for the first goal of her collegiate career.

Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) put Etown up 2-0 at 22:44 when she scored her second goal in two days off another rebound in front of the Muhlenberg net. Etown’s final goal came at 31:53 when Miles scored again on an Angstadt pass in front of the net.

Elizabethtown goalie Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) needed to make just one save, her first of the season, to earn her second shutout in as many games. Also helping to preserve the Etown shutout with a defensive save was Andrea Marsala (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown). Schram made 10 saves for Muhlenberg.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, September 6 against Franklin & Marshall College in a 4:30 p.m. non-conference game.
