Nationally 13th-Ranked Elizabethtown Falls to Wilkes 1-0 in First Loss of Season
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nationally 13th-ranked Elizabethtown College suffered its first setback of the 2006 season Tuesday, falling 1-0 to Wilkes University on the road. Elizabethtown drops to 5-1 overall with the loss, while Wilkes improves to 4-1 overall with the win.
The Blue Jays mustered just five shots over the course of the game, while Wilkes had 11 shots. The host Colonels also held a 10-6 edge in penalty corners. The game’s lone goal was scored 14:09 after the opening whistle when Wilkes’ Amanda Tilley scored off a Devon McKay assist.
Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made seven saves in the Elizabethtown goal, while Wilkes goalie Hilary Weber made three saves to preserve the shutout.
