ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- In a game between two nationally ranked Commonwealth Conference powers at Elizabethtown Wednesday, 11th-ranked Lebanon Valley College emerged victorious in a 2-1 win over 12th-ranked Elizabethtown College. Elizabethtown dropped to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference with the loss, while Lebanon Valley improved to 12-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference with the win. Lebanon Valley, which out-shot Elizabethtown 15-6 over the course of the game and held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners, was only able to find the back of the net twice as Etown goalie Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made 11 saves, and as Blue Jay defender Andrea Marsala (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) added a defensive save.
Lebanon Valley took a 1-0 lead 6:45 into the game when Mallary Anderson (Columbia, PA/Donegal) scored her second goal of the season off an assist by Steph Marguglio (Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton). Elizabethtown tied the score at 19:11 when first-year student Brenna Noon (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist by Val Bawell (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot). The score remained tied 1-1 at halftime. The game-winner came for Lebanon Valley at 53:51, when Mimi Sullivan (Elverson, PA/Twin Valley) scored her seventh goal of the season off an Alex Wolfe (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) assist. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, October 14 at Moravian College in a 1:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game. at Elizabethtown, Pa.
