Nationally 11th-Ranked Elizabethtown Defeats Susquehanna 3-0 in Conference Game

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nationally 11th-ranked Elizabethtown College won its penultimate Commonwealth Conference game of the 2006 season 3-0 at home over Susquehanna University Thursday. The Blue Jays improve to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference with the win, while Susquehanna drops to 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the loss.
Elizabethtown out-shot Susquehanna 10-5 and held an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners. The Blue Jays first got on the scoreboard at 3:56, when Andrea Miles (Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Prep.) scored her seventh goal of the season unassisted. Elizabethtown held a 2-0 lead at halftime after Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) scored her sixth goal of the season off a Brenna Noon (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) assist during a penalty corner at 29:15.

The final goal came during another penalty corner at 42:21, when Jen Pechart (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) scored her fifth goal of the season off assists by Brandy Spriggle (Beaver Springs, PA/West Snyder) and Laura Rinck (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove).
Elizabethtown goaltender Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made four saves, and Blue Jay defender Jenna Mastromarino (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name) made one defensive save to preserve the shutout.
Elizabethtown will return to action at home against Goucher College in a non-conference game at noon Saturday, October 21.
