Elizabethtown Trounces Goucher 8-0; Karyn Snyder Gets Hat Trick

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nationally 11th-ranked Elizabethtown College improved to 15-2 overall Saturday with an 8-0 Homecoming blowout of Goucher College, which dropped to 1-12 with the loss.

Karyn Snyder '09 had her first collegiate goal and hat trick in the same game.

Elizabethtown scored two goals in the first half and exploded for six goals in the second half. Karyn Snyder (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) led Elizabethtown in goals scored with three, garnering her first collegiate goal and her first collegiate hat trick in the same game.

Meg Policicchio (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) scored two goals, and Brandy Spriggle (Beaver Springs, PA/West Snyder) scored one goal and had a team-high total of three assists. Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/ Oley Valley) scored once and had one assist. Whitney Brown (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) scored the first goal of the game, her first goal of the season.

Each notching a single assist for Etown were Laura Rinck (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove Area), Jenna Mastromarino (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name), Andrea Miles (Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Prep.), Sarah McFarland (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) and Kelsey Diehl (North East, MD/Rising Sun).

Elizabethtown out-shot Goucher 33-0 and held a 26-0 advantage in penalty corners. Four of the Blue Jays’ goals came during penalty corners. Etown goalies Kristen Callaghan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy), Liz Hannegan (Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) and Sara Crimmel (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) combined for the shutout.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Tuesday, October 24 against Juniata College in a 3:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
