McDaniel Rallies for 2-1 Victory over Elizabethtown
In Non-Conference Field Hockey Action
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Kristin Mele and Michelle Fluty scored less than four minutes apart late in the second half to boost McDaniel College to a 2-1 victory over Elizabethtown College in non-conference field hockey action at Wolf Field on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 with less than 15 minutes to play, the Green Terror (2-0 overall) tied the match on a goal by Mele with 13:26 to go, and went ahead on Fluty's third goal of the season with 9:34 to play.
The Blue Jays (2-2 overall) led 1-0 at halftime on the strength of the third goal of the season by sophomore Katy Boone (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) off an assist by junior Alison Duval (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) with 5:54 left in the first half.
Elizabethtown dominated McDaniel statistically in the contest, finishing with a 21-5 advantage in shots and an 11-4 edge in penalty corners.
Sophomore Liz Hannegan (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) tallied two saves in goal for the Blue Jays, while Erika Wawzyanick made 11 stops for the Green Terror.
