Blue Jays Pick Up 3-0 Win Over Wilkes in Non-Conference Field Hockey Action

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Junior Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley), sophomore Brenna Noon (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) and first-year student Liz DeMatteis (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) all scored a goal and added an assist as Elizabethtown College defeated Wilkes University 3-0 in non-conference field hockey action at Wolf Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Angstadt and Noon scored first-half goals while DeMatteis added a second-half tally for the Blue Jays (4-3 overall), who did not allow any shots by the Lady Colonels (2-4 overall).

Angstadt gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead with 12:41 left in the first half as she knocked home a rebound, with DeMatteis picking up the assist. Noon pushed the Elizabethtown lead to 2-0 with 7:10 left in the half as she took a pass from Angstadt on a fast break and fired home her third goal of the season.

DeMatteis rounded out the scoring with 1:24 to play as she picked up her third goal of the year when she batted home a shot by Noon.

Elizabethtown finished with a 7-2 edge in penalty corners over Wilkes, and took all 12 shots in the contest. Sophomore Liz Hannegan (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) posted her second consecutive shutout for the Blue Jays without having to make a save, while Julia Smith made three stops for the Lady Colonels.
