ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Overtime Goal Gives 10th-Ranked Messiah 3-2 Victory Over Elizabethtown ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Lindsey Hunter scored her second goal of the match 6:13 into overtime as 10th-ranked Messiah College defeated Elizabethtown College 3-2 in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action at Wolf Field on Tuesday afternoon. Hunter batted home the second of two shots by Beth Sandowich as the Falcons (10-4 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to take a 2-1 lead, only to see junior Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) force overtime with her second goal of the day with 18:23 remaining in regulation. The Blue Jays (11-6 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth) took a 1-0 lead with 9:40 left in the first half as Angstadt scored her eighth goal of the season off a pass from first-year student Julie Foster (Reading, PA/Oley Valley). Messiah tied the game 6:46 into the second half on a goal by Elizabeth Ziegler, and went ahead 2-1 on Hunter's first goal of the day with 23:45 left on an assist by Nikki Bailey. Angstadt knotted the match with her ninth goal of the season midway through the second half, and the Falcons defended a Blue Jay penalty corner with no time remaining to force overtime. Messiah finished with a 15-4 advantage in shots and a 17-6 edge in penalty corners over Elizabethtown. First-year student Laura Ressler (Media, PA/Delaware County Christian) finished with nine saves for the Blue Jays, while Ashley Mowery made four stops for the Falcons.
