ETOWN DEFEATS SUSQUEHANNA, 87-71

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 18-4 overall and 9-3 in the Commonwealth Conference with an 87-71 road win over Susquehanna Wednesday. The host Crusaders' record falls to 9-13 overall and 2-10 in the Conference with the loss.

Etown took a tight 35-34 lead into halftime and began to pull away from Susquehanna early in the second half, amassing a 52-38 lead with 12:59 remaining to play. Susquehanna crept back into the game, though, and pulled to within five several times, the last time coming with 6:13 left to play when two foul shots by Mike Wicoskie made the score 68-63. Etown barreled ahead to an 81-65 lead with 2:10 to go to seal the victory.

Matt Nikoloff (Grove City, PA/Grove City) led four Blue Jays in double-figure scoring with 19 points while shooting nine for ten from the field. Ross Unruh (Denver, PA/Cocalico) added 18 points and led the Blue Jays with 11 rebounds.

Brian Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) came off the bench to score 14 points for Etown and shoot five for seven from the field and two for three from behind the arc. Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) scored 13 points off the bench while going six for nine from the field. As a team, the Blue Jays shot 52.2% from the field.

Corey Green led Susquehanna with 23 points.

Etown returns to action at home against conference rival Moravian Tuesday, February 13. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
