ETOWN BLOWS OUT EASTERN, 103-65

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown finished the first semester flying high with a 6-2 overall record following a 103-65 shellacking of Eastern at home Saturday evening.

Despite scoring 103 points, the most in a game for Etown since the 1997-98 season, the team's highest scorer, Ross Unruh (Denver, PA/Cocalico), led with only 14 points. The Blue Jays' offensive efforts were very evenly split up, as the team totaled 26 assists and 11 players had five points or more. All fifteen members of the Etown squad scored at least two points in the game.

Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Blue Jays were Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) with 11 points, and Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and Matt Nikoloff (Grove City PA/Grove City) with 10 points each. Nikoloff also led the team with five steals and five rebounds, and point guard Rocky Parise (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) paced Etown with seven assists.

As a team, Etown shot 60.6% from the field and 50.0% (8-16) from three-point range. Seven Blue Jays hit three-pointers, and Unruh was the only Elizabethtown player to hit two from downtown, going two for three.

Adam Shute (Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) led Eastern with 18 points. Other Eastern players with ten or more points included Graham Thorpe (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Christian) with 16 and freshman Anthony Hoffer (Mt. Joy, PA/Donegal) with 15 points. Hoffer also led Eastern with eight rebounds.

After a few weeks off, Etown returns to action as host of the Sprint Blue Jay Classic Tournament, to be held Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7. Game times for Jan. 6 are 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and game times for Jan. 7 are 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Elizabethtown will tip-off at 8:00 p.m. Jan. 6. Guests include Waynesburg, Lincoln University, and Lycoming.
