ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL With 95-71 Win Over Susquehanna, Etown Extends Record Win Streak to 16 Games and Improves to 18-1 Overall, 8-0 in Conference SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The wins keep piling up for Elizabethtown, which extended its program-record winning streak to 16 games Saturday with a 95-71 road victory over Susquehanna. Etown improves to 18-1 overall and 8-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with the win, while Susquehanna falls to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference. After 12 minutes of playing time, the Blue Jays had raced out to a 30-16 lead, and Etown held a 53-36 lead by halftime. Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) led Elizabethtown with 19 points, as five Blue Jays hit double digits in scoring. Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) added 16 points and pulled down six rebounds while shooting seven-for-seven from the floor in 20 minutes of playing time. Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 12 points with five-for-six shooting from the floor. He also led the Blue Jays with seven rebounds. Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added 13 points and two blocked shots to the Blue Jays' effort. Sophomore Ian Daecher (Lititz, PA/Warwick) came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down six rebounds in 19 minutes. Rocky Parise (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) led Elizabethtown with six assists. Tim Hurd led Susquehanna with 19 points and five rebounds, and Chris Zimmerman added 16 points for the Crusaders. Elizabethtown out-rebounded the Crusaders 50-36, and Etown shot 50.7% (38-for-75) from the floor against 42.0% (29-for-69) for Susquehanna. Etown will return to action at home Wednesday, January 30 against Commonwealth Conference opponent Widener. Game time is 7:30 p.m. |
