Rocky Parise Sets New Elizabethtown Program Season Assist Record as Blue Jays Defeat Messiah, 101-74, to Improve to 22-2 Overall
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Senior point guard Rocky Parise (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) set a new Elizabethtown program record for most assists in a season as Elizabethtown defeated Messiah 101-74 at home Tuesday night to improve to 22-2 overall and 12-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. Messiah fell to 9-15 overall and 4-9 in the conference, and the Falcons saw their five game winning streak snapped.
Parise totaled eight assists in the game, bringing his season total to 161. This breaks the previous program record of 155 that he set last year over the course of 26 games.
Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) and Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) each scored 20 points to lead Elizabethtown. Heller and reserve Ian Daecher (Lititz, PA/Warwick) each led Elizabethtown with six rebounds. Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) added 17 Blue Jay points, and Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) scored 16 points.
Nathan O'Neil was Messiah's leading scorer with 16 points. Ken Loyer added 14 points and led the Falcons with nine rebounds, and Matt Morgan and Jon Walsh scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Messiah.
Elizabethtown will return to action on the road against Albright for its final regular season game of 2001-02. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
